The coach

New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek is an accomplished NBA veteran who played in a much more physical version of today’s NBA. There is no doubt he knows basketball from an experiential standpoint that other coaches can’t match. Yet, questions still linger on his ability to be the answer at head coach for the Knicks.

Any head coach worth his salt has his own system of principles that are unwavering no matter what. Unfortunately last season, the former Utah Jazz guard was clearly intimidated by Phil Jackson.

Hornacek failed to stand up for himself and instead installed an outdated offense he didn’t believe in or like. Because of this, he is one major reason to not trust these New York Knicks. Until Hornacek proves he can stand on his own two feet in New York, trust is an attribute that won’t be attached to his name.

In two and a half seasons as Phoenix Suns head coach, Jeff Hornacek’s win percentage dropped each season until he was fired. While his style of coaching entertained on offense, there was still little success.

It is very possible, however, that Hornacek’s Knicks will thrive this season as he runs his own offense. Legitimate proof exists showing how these New York Knicks could very well be a playoff team. Yet, there isn’t a person on this team who can be trusted.
