Don’t bet on Beasley

Michael Beasley is a talented scorer with a checkered past who is ready take over for Carmelo Anthony. No one can question the talent and ability of Beasley, but he has yet to prove himself trustworthy in his NBA career. Furthermore, his recent public comments only add to the concern that neither his mind nor his game can be trusted.

It is possible that Beasley is having fun with the New York media at the end of a long offseason. Likewise, it is possible that Michael Beasley is exactly what he has proven to be thus far in his career: untrustworthy. Whatever the case may be, the fact that there is so much uneasiness surrounding Beasley further proves the New York Knicks can’t trust him.

In his career, Michael Beasley averages 12.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. These numbers are a far cry from what was expected of him as the second pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Beasley has bounced all over the league, never settling in one place or producing much while there.

Is there reason to hope the New York Knicks have the best version of Michael Beasley? Maybe. At the same time, Beasley should be considered untrustworthy until he proves otherwise. The last reason these Knicks can’t be trusted was pushed around by Phil Jackson all last season.
