2. Win a second MVP

Thirty-two players have won NBA MVP awards, but only 13 have won two of them. Durant has reached the point in his career where All-Star appearances and All-NBA teams start to mean less; it takes major hardware to climb past guys at the top of the Pyramid (shoutout Bill Simmons).

Part of that competition is his superstar point guard teammate, though he would never admit it. It does seem clear that Durant believes he is the best player on his team, however, from how he talked about Curry in post-Finals interviews to his digs at Under Armour this past summer.

Though most believe he is a better player right now (I am in the minority that disagrees), history may not remember it that way. Curry has one more title than Durant, and he also has one more MVP.

The former will never change unless one of the two leaves Golden State. The latter can, and Durant has a terrific chance to ride his NBA Finals MVP momentum into another Maurice Podoloff Trophy in 2017-18.
