3. Make an All-Defensive team

Durant always had the potential to be a special defender, but was merely above-average throughout the majority of his career. His genesis as a defensive monster began in the 2016 NBA Playoffs, and came to full fruition during his first season in Golden State.

Now, Durant is seen as one of the league’s best help guys and more versatile switch guys — Giannis Antetokounmpo-light, in the same way that the Greek Freak has become a junior version of Durant on the other end. Making an All-Defensive team may be as simple as staying healthy.

Health is, of course, a great goal in and of itself, but Durant has no control over that. What he can do is improve his defensive game further by mastering the Warriors scheme. He was a natural fit right away due to his length and willingness to compete, but if he can start to meld minds with his teammates the way, say, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala have over the years, imagine the impact his 7’5” wingspan and unreal athleticism could have.

Making an All-Defensive team would also be a major legacy boost, solidifying the difference between him and other all-time great wing scorers.
