Three years after being drafted, Serbian shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic is coming to the NBA. On July 13, he signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Sacramento Kings.
The Phoenix Suns selected Bogdanovic No. 27 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. Two years later, the Suns traded his draft rights along with the draft rights to Skal Labissiere, Georgios Papagiannis and a 2020 second round pick to the Kings for Marquese Chriss.
Bogdanovic was a 22-year-old playing for his hometown team KK Partizan Belgrade when he was drafted. However, a lot has changed over the last three seasons.
In 2016-17, Bogdanovic, now playing for Turkish team Fenerbahce, averaged 14.8 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game in 44 Turkish League and EuroLeague games. He shot 48.5 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from 3-point range and 87.4 percent from the line.
Several major awards supplemented his productive stat line. Bogdanovic became a Turkish League All-Star and made the All-EuroLeague First Team in 2017. He also aided Fenerbahce in winning their second consecutive Turkish League championship and first ever EuroLeague title.
Now, Bogdanovic comes to America to carve out a new chapter in his career. This article will examine five things he could aim to accomplish to have an effective rookie season.
