2. Average five or more assists per game

Patrick Beverley may have decreased his scoring average in each of the last four years. However, the opposite is true with his assists per game. Since he will have the ball in his hands far more next season than he did when playing with James Harden, Beverley could take another jump in the assists department.

Beverley averaged 2.7 assists per game in 2013-14. He followed that up with 3.4 assists per game in his next two seasons, and 4.2 assists per game last year. His passing vision has steadily improved over that time, as has his confidence in running the pick-and-roll.

Beverley will not be the primary offensive creator for the Clippers. He will sit behind Blake Griffin and Danilo Gallinari in that pecking order, and may also take a backseat to Milos Teodosic.

However, he played alongside James Harden, whose offensive load grew throughout Beverley’s tenure in Houston — yet Beverley’s assist numbers steadily improved. The Clippers would stand to benefit greatly if he maintained that positive trend next season.
