3. Add strength

McCaw has terrific defensive instincts. He needs nothing more than experience to become a plus NBA defender, and he already is a plus help guy.

Without more strength, however, he will be relegated to defending point guards. He can take some shooting guards, struggling with forceful 2s like James Harden, DeMar DeRozan and Jimmy Butler/Andrew Wiggins. Traditional small forwards are out of the question.

With added muscle, this can all change. McCaw is still a year or two from being a lockdown guy, but if he can start to look less like Shaun Livingston and more like Andre Iguodala, he can start to ease the latter out of his wing-stopper role, at least in the regular season and early playoff rounds.

Primarily a spot-up shooter, his strength is less important offensively. McCaw does have sneaky athleticism, though, and part of what makes it sneaky is his slender frame. He rarely attempts to blow through the lane or finish over the top, as he is incredibly easy to knock off course.

He does not want to lose the grace with which he traverses the court, but 10-15 pounds of muscle will not hurt.
