The preseason is nearly here. We’ve got you covered with everything you’ll want to watch for as the Memphis Grizzlies get their first real taste of competition.

We’re just days away from the first of five Memphis Grizzlies preseason basketball games. The NBA has, mercifully, decreased the total number of exhibitions each team will play prior to the start of the regular season.

That may not be ideal from a preparation standpoint, but for the fans it is most certainly a blessing. Preseason basketball can be tough to watch.

Grizzlies Preseason Schedule:

10/2 — vs. Orlando Magic (7 p.m. CT)
10/4 — at Philadelphia 76ers (6 p.m. CT)
10/9 — vs. Atlanta Hawks (6:30 p.m. CT)
10/11 — vs. Rockets (8:30 p.m. CT)
10/13 — vs. Pelicans (7 p.m. CT)

Teams allocate a lot of minutes to inferior players as a means of evaluation, veterans can be prone to loafing and the general atmosphere is most assuredly nowhere close to the excitement of even the most boring of regular season games.

But if you look closely enough and weed through the stalled out, disjointed possessions and the players intentionally trying to do more than they’re capable of, there are moments of real intrigue.

Preseason is an opportunity to see the origins of storylines yet to come, and find hints for answers to the year’s biggest questions. It’s just hard to spot them. That’s where we come in. Finding fun moments is a lot less challenging when you know what to look for, so we’ve outlined a list of four recommendations to make your preseason viewing experience more enjoyable.
