Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 goals for LeBron James in 2017-18
3. Shoot 40 percent from 3-point range
Despite being known for being one of the best slashers and finishers around the rim, James showcased the ability to shoot from downtown last year for the Cavaliers.
The four-time NBA MVP, who shot 36.3 percent from 3-point range during the regular season, made tremendous strides shooting the basketball in the playoffs, as James shot a career-best 41 percent from long range to help guide Cleveland past the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.
To put that into perspective, James finished the playoffs with a higher 3-point shooting percentage than Klay Thompson, Eric Gordon, Bradley Beal and Kyle Korver — four shooters who are regarded by many as the game’s top marksmen from beyond the arc.
Should James manage to pick up right where he left off from the perimeter this year, he would leave teams across the league to crumble at his will. The 14-year veteran shoots around 50 percent from the field on a nightly basis, and should he shoot 40 percent from deep during the season, opponents would have to respect his newfound weapon.
It would definitely help to open up more opportunities for his teammates, and give James the chance to find more gaps in defenses, as coaches could no longer gameplan to bait him into shooting like they once did.
