Los Angeles Clippers: 5 goals for Milos Teodosic in 2017-18
2. Earn the starting point guard spot
Milos Teodosic had many productive seasons in Europe, leaving as one the continent’s best players. He is more than capable of converting those abilities into a starting spot in the NBA.
However, the Clippers happen to have two starter-caliber point guards in Teodosic and Beverley. While Teodosic is great on offense, Beverley can both defend and shoot from the perimeter. He shot 38.2 percent from 3-point range in 2016-17.

Teodosic is capable of playing starter’s minutes, even though he hadn’t been CSKA Moscow’s starting point guard in three years. Instead, head coach Dimitrios Itoudis has opted to start former Duquesne Duke Aaron Jackson. Teodosic hasn’t started more than half his games since 2013-14, the second of two seasons under current San Antonio Spurs assistant Ettore Messina. At that time, Teodosic’s and Jackson’s roles were reversed.
Still, Teodosic was the more-utilized point guard under Itoudis. In 2016-17, he averaged 25.1 minutes per game to Jackson’s 21.2.
If Teodosic can comfortably adjust to the NBA by being electric on offense and improving his defense, he could earn the starting role over Beverley. It should be an aim of Teodosic’s to prove that the accolades he received and the stats he recorded in Europe mean something at this level.
