Brooklyn Nets: 5 goals for Jeremy Lin in 2017-18
By Randy Porga
4. Be realistic with his current team
A mindset can have a lot to do with success on the court, and the wrong mindset can lead to a discouraging disapointment. Jeremy Lin emerged virtually out of nowhere as a spectacular undrafted talent when he first debuted with the New York Knicks. It may seem like ages ago, although it was only during the 2011-12 season.
You can certainly feel for players who wind up having to take the journeyman’s route, moving from city to city to until they can prove reliable and successful.
However, when his destination became Brooklyn, he certainly should have understood the possible future that would follow as far as a lack of team success. Earlier this summer, Lin made the bold prediction of boasting the Nets to be a playoff contender during 2017-18.
It is certainly an interesting take from Lin, but he should be careful in trying to not overachieve. If the Nets can breach the 30-win mark, that would be seen as a profound step forward for the franchise.
Jeremy Lin has game without a doubt, but he’s not one of the elite guards in the league to lead his team to a complete turnaround. The goal in mind should be to start with game one, and utilize the new talents around him in Timofey Mozgov, DeMarre Carroll and Allen Crabbe.
