With the 2017-18 NBA season approaching, here are the five biggest takeaways from the highly anticipated New York Knicks’ Media Day.

The New York Knicks got their 2017-18 season underway with their annual Media Day event. The franchise took its first public step forward after officially parting ways with perennial All-Star Carmelo Anthony.

A management shift with Phil Jackson finally out the door and new general manage Scott Perry making the personnel decisions has brought new life in that area as well. The Knicks front office and public relations took plenty of hits last season, so the rebuild affects more than just the overall roster.

The new leadership for a relatively young team will be in the hands of third-year star Kristaps Porzingis as he hopes to ascend to the level of a NBA All-Star this season.

The additions of talented young players, Tim Hardaway Jr., Michael Beasley and Enes Kanter should give the Knicks faithful more reasons to support the changes. First round draft pick Frank Ntilikina will be critical to New York’s transformation as critics eagerly await his debut in the NBA.

The Knicks are back with a new attitude and goals for a new NBA season. They should be fun to watch as they continue to find their way in a superstar-depleted Eastern Conference. Here’s a look at the five biggest Media Day takeaways.
