5. Expectations are high

During NBA Media Day, numerous team executives and players from around the league discuss the importance of team chemistry and earning a spot in the playoffs to put their respective organizations in position to win a championship. While the Rockets have earned five consecutive postseason appearances since 2013, general manager Daryl Morey believes that this year’s team is his greatest yet.

The 45-year-old is confident that Houston has all the talent needed to compete for a championship this season.

"“This is the best team I have been involved with since I’ve been in the NBA,” Morey said to the press in attendance to start Rockets Media Day. “You can’t ask for much more than that…to have a real shot at winning a championship.”"

Eric Gordon also believes in the Rockets’ chances to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy come season’s end.

"“We’re definitely excited to get going,” Gordon stated about the upcoming season. “We have a chance to really win a championship here, and it starts with this year.”"

This is a very positive sign to see, as the team that had several questions surrounding them prior to last season now has two of the top 10 guards in basketball — with a head coach who is arguably one of the game’s greatest offensive minds today.

While the Western Conference has drastically improved this past offseason, the Rockets should have high expectations. They found a way to improve on both sides of the basketball with all of the moves Morey made this past summer.

Should Paul and Harden establish solid chemistry playing alongside one another, and help guide Houston to a great start, winning a title could become a legitimate possibly. No one can count them out this season.
