With the 2017-18 NBA season fast approaching, the Houston Rockets appear to have their eyes set on capturing the Larry O’Brien Trophy come season’s end. Here are the five biggest takeaways from Media Day.

After putting together one of its finest offseasons in recent memory, the Houston Rockets enter the 2017-18 NBA season as one of the league’s premier squads.

As the franchise that surprised many last year and went onto capture 55 wins under first-year head coach Mike D’Antoni, the Rockets now feature Chris Paul alongside James Harden in their backcourt — not to mention the likes of other additions such as forward P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah A Moute, who are ready help guide Clutch City towards its first championship since 1995.

Other key players such as Trevor Ariza, Ryan Anderson, Clint Capela and Eric Gordon have returned, but Houston will possess a different look this year.

Harden, who averaged a career-high 29.2 points and 11.2 assists per game at point guard last season, will play off of the ball more in the effort to accommodate Paul. Meanwhile, D’Antoni enters training camp looking to eviscerate defenses by spreading the floor, and use his latest weapon to take advantage of matchups within the pick-and-roll.
