2. An even more expanded role for Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder led the Atlanta Hawks in scoring and assists last season and as he enters his second year as the starting point guard, is expected to contribute even more. The 24-year-old guard made the most of the additional 11.2 minutes a night, averaging 17.9 points, 6.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.

For Schroder to continue to elevate his game, the primary focus should be limiting his turnovers.

The 258 turnovers Schroder committed were the sixth-most in the league. The five players to give the ball away even more than him each earned a selection to the All-Star team: James Harden, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, LeBron James and  DeMarcus Cousins.

As Atlanta is slated to begin training camp Tuesday, Schroder has already made a positive first impression on the top executive within the organization.

General manager Travis Schlenk provided some insight into the progression of the franchise point guard during his session with the media on NBA.com.

"“Dennis has made a lot of strides not only on the court but also as a person. He has shown a ton of growth already and we have no reason to believe he won’t continue to have that growth both on and off the court.”"

Any time the Hawks are in need of a basket, the Hawks are going to turn to Schroder. Last season he scored or assisted on 1,047 field goals, more than one-third totaled by Atlanta. Now the team is just hoping he can limit the amount of times he gives the ball away to the opposition.
