1. Bradley Beal and John Wall speak about social issues

The Washington Wizards’ superstars spoke about more than just basketball when the microphone was placed in front of them. The duo was very vocal about sparking social change with their platforms. Shooting guard Bradley Beal and point guard John Wall spoke very candidly about the current state of things dealing with the President of the United States.

John Wall said the President’s job is to lift people up, not bring them down. Bradley Beal called him a “clown.” Beal spoke about having rights as a US citizen, particularly a voice, and using that voice to speak up when things are morally wrong.

It made for good television to see both players speak calmly and eloquently on things going on around the sports realm. Wall even went as far as calling on star quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers to take a stand.

One thing’s for sure, NBA players are “woke” to what’s going on around the sports world and they’re speaking up about it.

The Wizards weren’t totally focused on basketball, but the words of their leaders stuck out the most in this year’s edition of Media Day.
