With the New York Knicks representing a golden opportunity to display his talents, here are five goals for Michael Beasley in the 2017-18 NBA season.

Now entering his ninth season in the league, Michael Beasley may have finally found a home with the New York Knicks.

Signed to a one-year, $2.1 million deal worth the veteran’s minimum, Beasley was seen to be providing some experience coming off the bench as a complement to starters Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.

But the news this week of Anthony’s blockbuster move to the Oklahoma City Thunder has opened up a completely new set of opportunities for the Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick in 2008.

With Anthony out of the picture, Beasley is likely to be afforded every chance to make the starting small forward spot his to lose.

Just prior to the Anthony trade, Beasley expressed how he was more than confident in his abilities entering this season:

"“I still think I have a chance to be one of the best in the NBA. I’m your favorite player’s favorite player. And it’s not enough for me or for him to know that. I want the world to know that. So I’m still working hard to be the best ever. If you doubt it, if you don’t believe it, it will just make my story that much better.”"

Still just 28, Beasley clearly feels he has the game to step in for Anthony, as does an unnamed scout who noted the following just after signing with the Knicks:

"“He can flat-out score — isos along the right baseline. He could be a perfect replacement for Melo, if he’s traded.”"

So with the Knicks now seemingly in a new era, here are five goals for Beasley is season 2017-18.
