Strength No. 2: Starting Frontcourt

The Los Angeles Clippers will lean heavily on their stars in Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan next season. However, the two longest-tenured Clippers will not be alone in the frontcourt this season.

Since J.J. Redick joined the trio of Jordan, Griffin and Paul, the team has struggled to fill the final spot in the starting lineup. The team cycled through draft picks like C.J. Wilcox and veterans like Paul Pierce. While Luc Mbah a Moute was quite successful in that role in his second season in Los Angeles, he still was not enough of an offensive threat.

The Clippers finally managed to find that third frontcourt piece in Danilo Gallinari. Gallo is an excellent scorer from every area on the floor and draws free throws at a remarkable rate. He is also tall enough at 6’10” to credibly switch onto power forwards, and he can alternate defensive roles with Griffin whenever needed.

With two athletic bigs in Jordan and Griffin to attack the rim, Gallo will have all the space he needs to rain down shots from the perimeter.
