The Los Angeles Clippers now have a drastically different lineup from their 2016-17 group, but similar expectations. Here are some strengths and weaknesses for the 2017-18 season.
The Los Angeles Clippers are a team that will be vastly different in 2017-18. Two of their core four starters left this summer. Chris Paul, probably the greatest Clipper in team history, left for the Houston Rockets, but the Clippers got a great trade package in return. J.J. Redick left Los Angeles for the up-and-coming Philadelphia 76ers.
However, the team remains the same in a number of ways. Blake Griffin is back on a five-year, $173 million deal. DeAndre Jordan is still locking down the middle. The Clippers have elite point guard play on both offense and defense; the only difference is that the point guard package is two players instead of one.
While the Clippers might not have homecourt advantage in the playoffs next year, they are still a solid bet to make the postseason. Their next season will also play a huge role in determining the future of the franchise. With that in mind, here is a look at the team’s strengths and weaknesses next season.
