The Brooklyn Nets were the worst team in the league last year, collecting 20 wins on the season. Here we’ll take a look at their biggest strengths and weaknesses heading into the 2017-18 season.

Last season the Brooklyn Nets had one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Heading into the 2017-18, they have some hope in the form of quite a few new additions.

The franchise is still reeling from their now infamous trade where the centerpieces of the deal were the then 37-year-old Kevin Garnett and 36-year-old Paul Pierce. They also gave up three first round picks and the right to swap first-rounders in 2017.

The Nets lost 62 games last year. Despite their record, critics around the league were impressed with first-year head coach Kenny Atkinson. He had the team playing extremely hard every night despite losing game after game.

Jeremy Lin was the big addition at the point guard spot, but only played 36 games on the season due to injury. Brook Lopez took a big leap on offense as Atkinson had a hand in Lopez’s career-high 34.6 percent from the 3-point line. And youngsters like Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Caris LeVert showed real potential throughout the season.

Heading into 2017-18, the Nets have added former No. 2 overall pick D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov via the Brook Lopez trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. They also added 3-point marksman Allen Crabbe, who knocked down 44 percent of his threes last year in Portland.

With the addition of three quality players, the Nets now have the potential to bring themselves back to respectability. These are the biggest strengths and weaknesses to look out for in the 2017-18 season.
