9. DeMarre Carroll

Sometimes the beauty of a potential bounce-back season is that there’s nowhere to go but up. That’s certainly the case with DeMarre Carroll, whose last two seasons with the Toronto Raptors were nothing short of disappointing.

Now on the Brooklyn Nets, Carroll will face tempered expectations in a reduced role on a team that won’t be competing for anything. All he’ll be expected to provide is consistent 3-point shooting, decent wing defense and a veteran presence for the younger players.

Last season, the 31-year-old Carroll averaged 8.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game on underwhelming .400/.341/.761 shooting splits. It shouldn’t be too hard for him to bounce back from those numbers, especially without the pressure of contributing to a team trying to win the East.
