5. Sacramento Kings

Without a doubt, Buddy Hield is the man in Sacramento. The Kings traded their franchise player for him and a draft pick and look to continue to build around him this season.

Over the summer, Sacramento used its own pick to select a backcourt mate, De’Aaron Fox with the fifth overall selection. Fox and Hield will provide the Kings with a quick and dynamic backcourt pairing. They project to play well off each other’s strengths and weaknesses and can, hopefully, create some more hype around the team.

Sacramento then turned the New Orleans Pelicans‘ 10th overall pick into the 15th and 20th selections in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, where they landed Justin Jackson and Harry Giles. Giles has the chance to be the steal of the draft if he can overcome the injuries that have sidelined him the last couple of seasons.

They also beefed up their rotation with veterans such as Vince Carter, Zach Randolph and George Hill. Carter and Randolph may not have much left in the tank at this point in their careers, but they are still valuable contributors both on and off the court. Hill will likely start at the point guard position before giving way to Fox at some point.

Overall, the Kings have a good mix of youth and veteran talent. However, talent is the key word there and I’m not sure they have enough of it to get out of the Pacific Division basement.
