1. The Knicks will not be a playoff team

The New York Knicks may improve upon their 31-51 record they finished with in 2016-17 but it probably won’t translate into a berth in the 2018 NBA Playoffs.

The recent signing of point guard Jarrett Jack gives off the notion of a roster that will be at an influx this upcoming season. The team already has veteran point guard Ramon Sessions, so Jack’s signing is questionable at best.

Also given the fact the team just drafted point guard Frank Ntilikina, it looks like his stay in New York as a Knick could be either short-lived or could come with a few mentors in the locker room to deal with.

The Knicks also signed forward Michael Beasley. Beasley is a former All-Rookie who averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Milwaukee Bucks last season. He fit his role in Milwaukee pretty well but his role in New York has yet to be fully defined.

He could fill in if the possibility of trading Carmelo Anthony arises, but Melo seems to be staying put for now. With so many question marks on the Knicks roster, it’s hard to see this team getting over the hump in 2017-18.

The New York Knicks could find themselves back in the NBA Draft Lottery in 2018 but that’s not necessarily a bad thing with such a strong draft class coming up.
