Atlanta Hawks: 2017-18 NBA season preview
Storyline 1: Where will the points come from?
Four players managed to pour in 1,000 or more points for the Atlanta Hawks last season, but three will be playing elsewhere in 2017-18.
Even with another All-Star campaign from Paul Millsap, a career-high scoring effort from Tim Hardaway Jr., and the post presence of Dwight Howard, Atlanta scored the eighth-fewest points per game last season.
The most frequent targets of Dennis Schroder’s passes have vacated, leaving the team without any proven scorers alongside the young point guard.
Schroder scored a team-high in points and after posting 17.9 points per game last season, is the only player on the Hawks roster to average over 15 points per game at any point in their NBA career.
Atlanta has managed most of its offensive success behind its penchant for creating easy scoring opportunities.

The Hawks ranked 10th in the NBA with 23.6 assists per game, but with a new core group of players, the lack of continuity could leave points at a premium. Without any proven scorers aside from Schroder, and the assist total likely to drop, Atlanta could replace Dallas as the only team to score fewer than 100 points per game.
