2. Post 10 double-doubles

This seems to be a lofty aspiration based on what we have seen from Portis at this point, right? Well, this goal is prefaced on the fact Portis will indeed be a starter.

Taking that into consideration, let’s look at the scoring aspect of the equation first. Portis scored in double figures 18 times last season and he accomplished this feat while appearing in the starting lineup just 13 times.

Another factor worth mentioning is his numbers in those 13 starts (8.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per outing) were better than the numbers he put up when he played with the second unit (6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest).

Keeping these stats in mind, this goal is very much attainable for a couple of reasons: 1) Portis posted five double-doubles last season, which makes five more well within reach and 2) His per 36 minutes averages from last season — 15.7 points and 10.7 boards — could indicate he is capable of putting together a double-double on any given night when the playing time is there.
