Portland Trail Blazers: 5 goals for Damian Lillard in 2017-18
As the Portland Trail Blazers’ best player, what are five things Damian Lillard can work towards in 2017-18?
Damian Lillard has been the leading point guard for the Portland Trail Blazers ever since his first game in 2012. Along the way he has helped the team reach four consecutive postseasons. In five years’ time, his name is already splayed across the franchise’s statistical leaderboards.
Lillard finished the 2016-17 season averaging 27.0 points per game on 44.4 percent shooting. He also notched 5.9 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game. As evidenced by his 24.1 Player Efficiency Rating and 3.14 Real Plus-Minus, it was Lillard’s best season to date. At 27 years old, it’s hard not to marvel at how much more he can do.
However, there’s always room for improvement. As the 2017-18 season approaches, there are still benchmarks that Lillard can tackle to become an even better player. While he certainly has his own in mind, this article will cover five he could conceivably reach this year.
If Damian Lillard can acheive at least a couple of the goals stated ahead, he’d play a major part not only in the Blazers’ playoff chances, but in their ability to contend in a stacked Western Conference.
