The OKC Thunder still appear to feel some way about Kevin Durant after Enes Kanter revealed that a player was not happy about him playing pick up basketball with Durant. Animosity still looms in OKC.

Kevin Durant used to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder and then he left to go play with the Golden State Warriors. That is true and everybody knows that, but Enes Kanter has revealed that a player on the team still has animosity towards Durant. Kanter played a pickup game with Durant in New York on Aug. 15, but now that game has become infamous. Kanter was asked to not return if he was seen in a picture with Kevin Durant.

In the Instagram video below, you can see Kanter defending Durant as Durant goes up for a dunk. Kanter says that he was also asked if he was on the same team as Durant by the player. Kanter revealed all of this on a podcast called Timeout with Taylor Rooks. At around the 4:22 mark, Kanter says:

"“I told my coaches make sure I am on LeBron [James] team because, I’m not going to tell who, but one of my teammates a couple weeks before that scrimmage said ‘If I see one picture with you and KD,’ because he knows that KD lives in the same apartment with me, ‘Don’t come back to OKC.'”"

A little bit after that statement he says that after the first game, in which they lost, the second game he was on Kevin Durant’s team and he even gave Durant a handshake and talked to him during the pickup game.

It is clear that outside of the basketball court in the NBA that Kevin Durant has some friends on the OKC roster. Other players, he does not have in his corner. It is also a question who is the player that Kanter is talking about and if there are other players on the team that have the player’s back.

The Thunder player has a right to feel the way that he does. Durant left the team to pursue a championship and by leaving the Thunder to join the team that beat them in the playoffs, he is saying that the team that he was drafted to was not good enough to go where he wanted to go.

If there are players that still feel like this, then that means that this year will be just like last year. Chesapeake Energy Arena will once again be hostile territory for Durant.

The older players feel that the NBA today is too nice. Charles Barkley calls the players today AAU babies because most of the players in the league today played against each other in AAU when they were growing up, so now they are friendly towards each other.

This Kevin Durant-OKC rivalry is the only similarity to the old days now and it should be good to see some competitive hostility between players in the league now.

Kanter acknowledged the fact that Kevin Durant is an established and accomplished player, but some players just still feel disrespected and this may cause the NBA to go back to how it was in the past with more rivalries.
