We’ve been here before

Fortunately and unfortunately, history has a way of repeating itself. As far as the Bulls are concerned, this latest development isn’t a positive by any means.

You see, last season Payne broke his right foot during a team scrimmage with the Thunder. When it was all said and done, the guy who was supposed to add depth to the backup point guard slot did not return to the court until early January.

Back then, the Thunder organization set a deliberate timetable to ensure the injury would not become a recurring one. In light of this recent news of Payne suffering a fracture to the same foot that kept him out the lineup a good portion of the season a year ago, it’s safe to say this is exactly what the situation has become.

So for the second year in a row, Payne will not see action until January. Considering how he has struggled during the first two years of his career, one can only wonder if he has what it takes to become a viable rotational player.
