5. Shoot at least 40 percent from 3-point range

Considering Richardson shot at a 46.1 percent clip as a rookie, this is certainly achievable.

Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, a combination of injuries and the second-year blues saw Richardson return just a 33 percent shooting clip last season. Granted, part of the reason for the drop in shooting percentage can be attributed to an increase in volume, with Richardson’s attempts rising from 2.2 to 4.3 per game.

But as we have seen over Richardson’s first two season, he is clearly a player who enjoys continuity. Like any player, the more familiar Richardson’s becomes with his surroundings, the more likely he is to perform at a high level on the floor.

One aspect that could certainly become more prevalent is Richardson’s attempts from the corner. Last season, 26 percent of Richardson’s total 3-point attempts came from the corner, converting at a 47.5 percent clip. Considering the corner three is considered the most efficient shooting spot on the floor outside the restricted area, this is certainly something the Heat and Richardson should seek to amend.

Over the course of last season, Richardson converted on two or more 3-pointers on 22 occasions, including six games where he nailed four. Notably, the Heat posted a 4-2 record over those games.

Overall, an aggressive Richardson from long range is beneficial for both his performance and the success of the team.
