The Golden State Warriors started their last title defense 24-0, before ending it 0-3. Will they fare better in 2017-18? As we take a look at the team’s three biggest strengths and weaknesses, we will unveil both why they should repeat, and what would lead to them coming up short.

As the Golden State Warriors prepare for another title defense, they look as strong on paper as ever. For a team that has averaged 69 wins over the last three seasons, that is saying something.

It is important, however, to separate the past from the present. Regardless of the success Golden State has enjoyed since 2014-15, each season is unique. When analyzing this year’s Warriors in a vacuum, they have, like every other team, distinct strengths and weaknesses.

Just as important as identifying these areas of relative might is figuring out how they fit together. As we break down the Warriors’ three biggest strengths and weaknesses entering 2017-18, we will also examine how these various roster traits both mitigate and build upon each other.
