Indiana Pacers: 5 goals for Lance Stephenson in 2017-18
Lance Stephenson rejoined the Indiana Pacers very late last season, and he established himself quickly. Here are five goals for him going into the 2017-18 campaign.
Lance Stephenson‘s ride with the Indiana Pacers has been a very interesting one. It all began in 2010 when Larry Bird decided to take a chance on Stephenson’s natural talent and draft him with the 40th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
Stephenson spent most of his first two years in a Pacer uniform watching and learning, but he was finally unleashed in 2012-13 when he logged nearly 30 minutes per night for the Blue and Gold.
Stephenson’s best NBA season came in 2013-14, when he averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest. His productivity and flash garnered enough attention that he was in the conversation for a spot on the NBA All-Star team that season.
In the summer of 2014, Stephenson made the ill-fated decision to leave Indiana as a free agent and join the Charlotte Hornets, which started a career tailspin for the 6’5″, 230-pound guard.
Lance Stephenson floundered for nearly three years until late in the 2016-17 campaign when the Pacers decided to bring him back as a free agent.
He played very well in those late-season games, which included a stellar performance in Indiana’s first round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Expectations are high for Stephenson now that he is back with the Pacers — he seems to have rediscovered his groove after returning to the club at the end of last season.
Here are five goals for Lance Stephenson as he enters the upcoming 2017-18 season as an important member of Indiana’s playing rotation.
