1. Become a leader off the bench

One thing the Washington Wizards could use is somebody to truly lead in the rotation, whether it be the newly signed Jodie Meeks or possibly Ian Mahinmi.

Mahinmi is no stranger to the postseason, interestingly enough. He has been on a team that has made the playoffs seven of the past eight seasons. Seeing a total of 748 minutes of career time on the court during the playoffs is a decent amount of experience to have as a rotation player.

Averaging just 3.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in just 12.3 minutes per game for his playoff career paints an ugly picture, but he can at least be a factor coming off the bench. However, he averages 2.3 personal fouls per game over that time and during the Washington Wizards’ most recent playoff run, 3.4 personal fouls per game in just five appearances.

Ian Mahinmi has a lot of work ahead of him to prove any long-term value to any NBA teams, including his current employer.

He may be a decent big man on the defensive side of the court, but have been unable to stay healthy long enough to provide a positive future outlook in his current situation. His biggest goal going forward may be becoming a leader to younger players in the rotation for as long he is in Washington.
