4. Deliver more in crunch-time

Anthony Davis has carried the Pelicans for five seasons, with his field goal attempts per game steadily increasing each year he has been in the league.

A scoring threat from anywhere inside of the 3-point arc (Davis is a career 29 percent shooter from 3-point range), the Pelicans offense has primarily run through the 24-year-old.

Only with the game on the line, Davis has struggled to deliver in crunch-time, defined by NBA.com as any contest within five points with five or fewer minutes remaining in the fourth quarter or overtime. .

A year ago, Davis ranked 15th in crunch time scoring, totaling 128 points. Only his shooting percentage was 8.5 percent below his usual figures and his free throw shooting dropped 6.1 percent.

New Orleans went 3-5 in games that went into overtime and posted a record of 12-13 in games decided by five or fewer points. The Pelicans figure to be in many more crunch-time situations next season, hoping the 22 losses by 10 or more points is significantly reduced next season.

If the game is close, the ball will likely be in the hands of Davis. New Orleans will need him to capitalize.
