By Simon Smith
After an impressive season as a key reserve for the Miami Heat, here are five goals for guard Tyler Johnson in season 2017-18.
Possibly no other player on the Miami Heat roster exemplifies the Heat culture more than Tyler Johnson.
Undrafted coming out of Fresno State, Johnson had to work and scrap his way through the G League to eventually find himself a landing spot in Miami. After earning a four-year, $50 million contract in the summer of 2016, Johnson held up his end of the bargain with his continued improvement last season.
Playing 73 games, Johnson averaged 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 29.8 minutes per game. After an injury-interrupted 2015-16 season, Johnson established himself as one of the key sixth men throughout the league, playing all 73 games off the bench.
In averaging career high’s across the board, Johnson further illustrated his quick rise to prominence in demonstrating the vast array of skills he has to offer.
Johnson’s relentless, attacking style of play has endeared him extremely well to the Heat fanbase, and has transforming him into a South Beach fan favorite.
After the Heat narrowly missed on last season’s playoffs, Johnson and the rest of the team are going to even more determined to make amends and push as high as possible up the Eastern Conference standings. With this in mind, here are five goals for Johnson in 2017-18.
