In our bold predictions for the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors, we will look deep within the roster for unexpected story lines. For a team that has redefined the term “bold,” that is all we can do.

Over the last three years, the Golden State Warriors have been a living, breathing embodiment of the Bold Prediction.

Before 2014-15, picking Stephen Curry to win the MVP or the team to win the title would have been more than bold. Their 73-win campaign was even more shocking, and Curry’s unanimous repeat more than that. That was all topped by their 3-1 comeback against the Thunder, and, having seemingly exhausted all routes to shock people, they spectacularly crumbled when it was least expected.

They followed that up by signing Kevin Durant, because of course they did.

The Warriors have redefined the idea of bold predictions. Their one playoff loss last season was more shocking than their 16 wins combined, and nothing — a three-peat, five-peat or all-time dissolution — seems unattainable.

That’s why, for our bold predictions for the upcoming season, we will take a more subtle route. Our focus will be on team dynamics and structure, with a little traditional boldness sprinkled in.
