Dennis Schroder will be the featured player for the Atlanta Hawks following a massive roster adjustment this summer. Here are five goals for his 2017-18 season.

The biggest question facing Dennis Schroder a year ago would be his ability to handle the starting point guard position for the Atlanta Hawks.

As the 23-year-old is set to begin his fifth season with the organization, the challenge facing Schroder now is just how much can he carry the franchise.

The Hawks essentially hit the reset button, with three of the five starters from opening night in 2016 playing elsewhere next month. Now, the team clearly belongs to Schroder.

He is the only player on the roster to average 15 points per game at any point in their NBA career and after leading the team in scoring, assists and minutes played in 2016-17, he is expected to do much more this year.

Schroder, along with Mike Muscala, is the longest-tenured player on the team, and as Atlanta embarks on a youth movement, production from the point guard position is a strict requirement.

Atlanta ran 10.1 pick-and-roll plays featuring Schroder as the ball-handler a year ago, the seventh highest frequency in the NBA, generating 47 percent of his total points scored.

Expect the number of pick-and-rolls for Schroder to increase significantly, especially with Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard, Tim Hardaway Jr., Thabo Sefolosha and Jose Calderon no longer on the team.

The burden on both ends of the floor will fall onto Schroder. Here are five goals to make his transition to the featured player of the franchise a smooth one in 2017-18.
