Washington Wizards: 5 goals for Bradley Beal in 2017-18
By Randy Porga
2. Improve upon a career high 3-point percentage
This is the hardest to achieve of his goals so far, yet a minor change in this area can yield big results. Bradley Beal has a career average of 39.9 percent on his 3-pointers and last season shot for 40.4 percent. These are excellent marks, but they can still improve.
He should find himself more often shooting from the corner when beyond the arc. Last season he only shot from the corner 16 percent of the time from deep, which was a career low, but made 44.3 percent of those looks. The only year he shot better was his rookie year, where out of 236 3-point attempts, 92 were from the corner and he sank exactly 50.0 percent of those attempts.
Without a doubt, Beal is effective from the mid-range, as his average distance per shot is roughly 15.9 feet from the basket. Last year he set a career high for shots made 16 feet or further by converting 50.5 percent of his looks.
On paper, he appears most comfortable from the outside and is able to use his body to create space, only now perhaps Scott Brooks should draw up some plays that end with Beal shooting from the corner.
