Toronto Raptors: Biggest strengths and weaknesses for 2017-18
Weakness No. 3: Lack of small forward depth
The Toronto Raptors lack a bit of depth at the small forward position. They traded DeMarre Carroll to the Brooklyn Nets and P.J. Tucker signed a four-year deal in Houston.
The Raptors did sign C.J. Miles, who can play either shooting guard or small forward. But he isn’t exactly the type of lockdown defender that Carroll and Tucker were for the Raptors. At 0.6 steals a game, he doesn’t force turnovers, and at 0.6 assists per game, he won’t exactly alleviate Toronto’s passing problems either.
Sometimes Toronto will play Norman Powell at the 3, but at 6’4″, he’s going to struggle against forwards like LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Toronto’s other wing players like OG Anunoby, K.J. McDaniels and Malcolm Miller are either rookies or inexperienced in the playoffs. The Raptors may find themselves outmatched at the small forward position throughout the season.
