A look at the Chicago Bulls biggest strengths and weaknesses heading into the 2017-18 campaign.

The Chicago Bulls have been to the playoffs eight times in the last nine seasons. But in light of just one conference finals appearances and five first round eliminations, the front office finally decided it was time to take the team in a new direction – for the second time in three years

When the organization made a similar choice following the 2014-15 campaign, the change in question had to do with unceremoniously firing a coach whose teams went to the playoffs every year he was at the helm.

This time around, the Bulls opted to make a few personnel changes. Remember when John Paxson often danced around the subject of building a team around Jimmy Butler? Well, there was a good reason for that.

Despite being the team’s go-to option over the past three seasons, Butler was dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves to help usher in a youth movement. This was somewhat surprising considering the question marks surrounding the players they got in return for an established All-Star.

Also included on the departure list were Rajon Rondo (the best point guard on the roster from last season), Michael Carter-Williams and Isaiah Canaan. As a result of these changes, the Bulls roster will certainly have an interesting look to it next season.

That being said, here’s a look at biggest strengths and weaknesses to watch for in the 2017-18 season.
