Philadelphia 76ers: 5 goals for J.J. Redick in 2017-18

After being highly sought-after in the free agency period, here are five goals for J.J. Redick with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017-18.
It’s not often that a key free agent entering his 12th season in the league will decide to sign with a team that’s compiled a 75-253 record over the previous four seasons.
But that’s exactly what occurred this offseason, as J.J. Redick and the Philadelphia 76ers came to agreement on a one-year, $23 million contract. Granted, the monetary amount seems exorbitant any way you view it. But the Sixers had a ton of cap space to utilize, while at the same time maintaining flexibility moving forward when a number of their key pieces become free agents in the ensuing years.
Naturally, the first thing that springs to mind when adding Redick is the perimeter shooting he provides. Last season was yet another display of his elite shooting, hitting at a 42.9 percent clip from 3-point range on his way to averaging 15.0 points in 28.2 minutes per game.
With the Sixers ranking 25th in 3-point percentage last season at 34.0 percent, the addition of Redick is a no-brainer. Furthermore, with such a talented but inexperienced roster, the infusion of Redick into their rotation will likely prove to be invaluable. Keep in mind, the Sixers’ exciting trio of Joel Embiid, Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons has played a combined 31 career games.
Therefore, Redick’s contributions are going to be just as important both on and off the court. With this in mind, here are five goals for Redick in 2017-18.
