6. Dave Bing (PG/SG) – No. 2 pick in 1966 NBA Draft

Career stats (with the Pistons):  675 GP, 22.60 PPG, 6.4 APG, 4.2 RPG, 1.4 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 44.9 FG%, 77.1 FT%

The Pistons selected Dave Bing second in the 1966 NBA Draft. The Hall-of-Famer won NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 1966-67.

Dave Bing led the team in scoring from 1967-71, and assists from 1967-75. His 22.6 scoring average is second-best in team history behind Bob Lanier, and he is fourth all-time in total points. He also ranks third in total assists.

Despite Bing’s individual success, his teams only made three playoff appearances during his tenure in Detroit. He appeared in six NBA All-Star games will playing for Detroit.

Bing won the Detroit Mayoral election in 2009 and served the city from 2009-14.
