4. Archie Goodwin

Most Suns fans know by now that Archie Goodwin is one high-upside draft pick that never panned out, but after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets about a month ago, a short-term reunion could make some sense for both parties.

Head coach Earl Watson is familiar with Goodwin’s game, and there’s a chance he’d be better backing up Booker than anyone currently on the Suns’ roster. In his last season in Phoenix, Goodwin averaged 8.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.

Though he’s never been an efficient shooter or competent defender, he’s still only 23 years old. As a former Sun who’s hit game-winners for this team, perhaps he could get over the anger of being released by Phoenix and try to make the most of a minimum deal before Davon Reed returns.

This is only a stopgap fix, and no one’s suggesting that Goodwin could finally get his Phoenix career back on track with a second stint. But even for a player who couldn’t carve out a spot in Brooklyn’s rotation, Goodwin brings a tad more experience and familiarity than Jok or Millsap.
