With Davon Reed and Brandon Knight injured, here are five shooting guards the Phoenix Suns could consider signing to play behind Devin Booker.

For perhaps the first time under general manager Ryan McDonough, the following sentence actually rings true: The Phoenix Suns could use a little help in their backcourt.

Despite being known as the NBA southwestern haven for Kentucky point guards, the Suns currently have some underwhelming options at the shooting guard position behind Devin Booker.

Brandon Knight is expected to miss the entire 2017-18 season as he recovers from a torn ACL and had fallen out of the rotation anyway, while second round pick Davon Reed is expected to miss 4-6 months after undergoing surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee.

Reed should be able to return sometime in 2018, but either way, Phoenix could use a little depth behind Booker for the upcoming season. Derrick Jones Jr. and Josh Jackson could potentially soak up some minutes at the 2 by playing out of position, but other than that, the Suns’ only other options are Elijah Millsap and the recently signed Peter Jok.

The 30-year-old Millsap has been bouncing around the NBA and the D-League for the last three years, while Jok is four-year player from Iowa who went undrafted this year.

Perhaps the Suns will be content with a backup-by-committee situation, but if they’re looking for more young players to develop or veterans to help the young guys in the locker room, the key is to find someone willing to come off the bench and settle for a minimum contract now that the market’s dried up. Here are five shooting guards who are still available and could fit the bill.

Other options:  Jason Terry, Rodney Stuckey and Monta Ellis
