Phoenix Suns: 5 goals for T.J. Warren in 2017-18
Heading into a critical fourth season with the Phoenix Suns, here are five goals for T.J. Warren in 2017-18.
As the Phoenix Suns embark on their 50th season as an NBA franchise, expectations aren’t particularly high. They’ve never won a championship, are facing an eighth straight year without a playoff berth and will have to wait for a young core to grow up before talks of Phoenix’s first NBA championship can begin again.
Devin Booker, Dragan Bender, Marquese Chriss, Tyler Ulis and this year’s first round draft pick, Josh Jackson, compose an extremely inexperienced core with tons of room for growth. Like most high-ceiling players, it will take a lot of time and development for them to get there.
However, one player who seems to be on the outside looking in at #TheTimeline is T.J. Warren, a gifted scorer whose breakout third season was hindered by a mysterious head injury in November that sidelined him for a month and threw off his rhythm even after he returned.
Though Warren posted career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks per game last year, a strong start and an even stronger finish to the season bookended a lot of inconsistency in the middle.
