Strength: Versatility and depth

The Washington Wizards’ free agency signings across the board all need to prove themselves this upcoming season, but they bring the kind of versatility and depth that was not apparent last year.

Scott Brooks made it public a few weeks ago that Bradley Beal may have a slightly different role this season, and this is where it gets interesting. Adjusting Beal to become a facilitator may seem strange at first, but let us take a look at just one example of one rotation we might see that has some appeal:

While it may not seem drastic or anything we have not seen before, should Kelly Oubre shake off his sophomore slump, this may enhance the Wizards’ push-the-pace style of offense even more.

This also can hopefully address two other issues the Wizards are facing as well:

  1. Relieving Marcin Gortat of some of his minutes, as he averaged 31 minutes per game last year and should not be expected to do that much longer going forward.
  2. More opportunities for open looks, leading to a more efficient team beyond the arc. The Wizards finished eighth in 3-point percentage, but 20th in attempts. If they take more and make more, it makes for a harder team to keep up with.

While this is a look from afar as we are still two months away from the regular season, it should certainly be in consideration as a strength the Wizards possess going forward.
