Heading into the 2017-18 NBA season, here’s a look at the Washington Wizards biggest strengths and weaknesses as a team.

The Washington Wizards are coming off a very successful campaign from their 2016-17 regular season under head coach Scott Brooks. The Wizards were led by not only John Wall, but a very effective starting five all having career years. They now find themselves now as one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference.

It has been an interesting offseason to say the least, as many star players have decided to go a different direction. In most recent news, Kyrie Irving landed himself in Boston in a deal that sent Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Wizards found their playoff hopes halted by the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals in a very close seven-game series.

As it turns out, the Eastern Conference appears a bit weakened as many teams find themselves in the middle of a rebuild, more focused on competing for the future rather than the present. Given the Wizards’ strengths, it seems awfully predictable that they should find themselves finishing among the East’s top four teams once more.

However, just as they have many strengths to build upon from the previous season, they also have a few weaknesses and areas to tweak their games to improve upon their 49-win season.

Lets dissect the good and the bad, and break down the strengths and weaknesses of the Washington Wizards as the 2017-18 regular season approaches.
