3rd Quarter

Dates: Jan. 6 – Feb. 13

Nationally televised games: Oklahoma City Thunder (Jan. 10), Portland Trail Blazers (Jan. 14), Houston Rockets (Jan. 18), Los Angeles Clippers (Jan. 22), Golden State Warriors (Jan. 25), Cleveland Cavaliers (Feb. 7), Chicago Bulls (Feb. 9)

At this point in the season, we will have a good idea if the Timberwolves are going to live up to the hype or not. They will have experienced enough tests to see if they have finally taken the step they failed to take in so many prior seasons.

The Wolves have some big games to kick off the second half of the season. They play the improved Houston Rockets for the first time of the season on Jan. 18. They better save energy after their first meeting with Houston, because they play the Clippers on Jan. 22 and the Warriors on Jan. 25.

Dont forget about the East

The Timberwolves get some big Eastern Conference matchups during this time period as well. They play LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers twice this quarter.  The second time is televised on ESPN on Feb. 7. Seeing how well they play against the greatest player in the NBA will show if they are ready for big showtime games down the stretch.

The televised game on Feb. 9 will be a fun one for Wolves fans to watch. They play the Chicago Bulls on the road that day, which means Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn will get to play against their former teams.

Projected quarter record: 12-8
