2nd Quarter

Dates: Nov. 28 – Jan. 5

Nationally televised games: Oklahoma City Thunder (Dec. 1), Los Angeles Clippers (Dec. 6), Los Angeles Lakers (Dec. 25)

The second quarter of the season will start to test the Timberwolves’ depth — a major issue for the team last year. They simply lost games because they were fatigued. With a deeper roster, that will not be a major reason the Wolves lose games.

They start with an excellent Eastern Conference opponent in the Washington Wizards. Two games after that, they play the Thunder for the third time on NBA TV.

Also during the time period, the Wolves play the Los Angeles Clippers twice within a three-day span. The Clippers lost Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets during free agency but still have a solid roster. This will be a good gauge to see if the Wolves are ahead of the Clippers as we get closer to halfway point of the season.

Five home games in a row

Dec. 12 marks the start of the first five-game home stretch of the season. The Timberwolves have three five-game home stretches during the 2017-18 season. The first stretch features very winnable games for Minnesota, should the team need to regroup.

The Wolves will close down Christmas Day with a late road game on TNT against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are an improved team after drafting Lonzo Ball during the 2017 NBA Draft.

Projected quarter record: 12-8
