1st Quarter

Dates: Oct. 18 – Nov. 26

Nationally televised games: San Antonio Spurs (Oct. 18), Oklahoma City Thunder (Oct. 27), Golden State Warriors (Nov. 8)

The Minnesota Timberwolves better come out of preseason sharp, because they play eight of their first 13 games on the road.

The first game of the season is not an easy task. It is a tough road test against Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs. This nationally televised game will give NBA fans an early opportunity to see the new and improved Timberwolves in action.

It wont take long for former point guard Ricky Rubio to return to the Target Center, as the Wolves host the Utah Jazz the second game of the season. That is a game Rubio most likely has circled so he can show Minnesota what it is missing after trading him for cap space to sign Jeff Teague during free agency.

Get used to seeing the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Wolves get a double test early in the season as well. They play the Oklahoma City Thunder twice within a five-day period. The Thunder are projected to finish fifth in the Western Conference, which means this is a potential first round playoff matchup. The second game between the two on Oct. 27 is nationally televised that many fans will be watching to see how Paul George and Russell Westbrook play together.

The highlight of this quarter is Nov. 8.  The Timberwolves play on the road against the Golden State Warriors for a nationally televised game on ESPN. In a league where everyone is currently chasing the Warriors, this game will tell how far off the Wolves are. Stephen Curry and company will not want the newly improved Timberwolves to gain confidence, so expect an excellent showing by both teams.

Projected quarter record: 14-6
