1. Step into a leadership role

Steven Adams is going into his fifth year and now is the time to become more vocal. This is also his fifth straight year with the team. The younger players will now look up to him. Adams has the capability to step up and be a player that says more during big moments.

Westbrook is the leader, but if he helps reinforce what Westbrook is saying, the players will build more chemistry and that can start a culture with the team. Adams’ personality is more easygoing. You can tell with how he deals with the media compared to Westbrook. He can be somebody to talk to during a long season.

Helping the younger players like Dakari Johnson, as mentioned before, will give the team more cohesiveness and that will help the team get through tough times. The 82-game season is long and there will have to be more than one voice during the course of the season.

Westbrook is the second-longest tenured player next to Nick Collison, but then it’s Adams and Roberson going into their fifth seasons with the team. Both players will have to be more vocal, but in a more prominent role, it’s time for Adams to start stepping up into more of a leadership role.
